The album, published in Polish and English, contains Tomek Tyndyk’s photographs from 2014-2017, taken during rehearsals and exploitation of TR Warszawa performances. Designed by Ania Nałęcka-Milach, the book is a creative development of Tyndyk’s project, familiar to audiences from earlier installments. It becomes its next essential element.

Book Description:

Theater sometimes suggests some clues, other times it obliterates them; it covers something or hides something from us. Also about ourselves. I wanted to capture that narrow gap between what is inaccessible and what can be revealed in a moment,” says actor and photographer Tomek Tyndyk about his project. He is not interested in the theater, either in the created space of theatrical illusion or its raw, material ground. What is central in the artist’s photographs is what separates the two spheres. It is from the interval, the corridor, the theatrical passage that his images emerge, and it is in them that his photographic experiment takes place. Tyndyk looks at the process of creating a performance. He tries to record places, objects and people in the intimate process of creation. He reveals what is unnamed, personal, often invisible. The characters encountered are fragmented, and the space is disintegrated. Between the black curtains, among the reel of cables, Tyndyk’s very personal wandering through the nooks and crannies of the theater takes place. From this straying on the border between the real and the unreal, from the obtrusively recurring motifs, superimpositions and seemingly absurd transformations, an unusual album was created – a theatrical and non-theatrical at the same time (self)extended portrait.
